FYI: Most of the wave of 1709 Palatine immigrants was brought here, after landing in NYC, to a place called "East Camp" (now Germantown) where they were expected to produce tar (called "naval stores") for the British Navy. Nearly straight across the Hudson River was a similar place, called the "West Camp" (still is) were 1709ers were also brought. They arrived in the Hudson Valley in 1710.
